Cranberry Township is located in Butler County, Pennsylvania. It was named after wild cranberries that once grew in the area. It is a Second Class Township with a population of 23,625 as of the 2000 census. This is a dramatic increase from 1990 when it was 14,809. The large jump in population can largely be attributed to the development of I-279, a route which cut travel time to Pittsburgh down to less then half an hour.
